PeckerWoodStock

Well the culvert collapsed at Grassy slough, I don't know how long it will take for somebody to fix it..If things are to get back to normal, it'll be tommorrow.

I made it a ways further today but still can;t circle the club.

it was 65-70 degrees.

I stripped down to my boxers so I could put a stake up where that culvert washed out. The water was cold.

Stillwell's camp ain't the only thing I'm not going to be seeing for a while.

Hey, the roof didn't fall in at Mama's Church, She, me and JoAnn Ritter all rode together, then Judy and Steve my sis and BIL, were there.

My other sister Janet cooked for all of us today, well, she tricked her husband into doing it. He says he enjoys cooking, boy she sho' has him brainwashed.

But it was all good, man!

The temp is dropping back into the high 50's and only a slight chance of rain this week.

Keep it dry and warm, see ya tommorrow, Big Bad Bob

So Far So Good

I made it around the North end of the club !!! Saw Three deer !! I ran my backhoe dressing up the road in front of the house until it started leaking hydraulic fluid. Then I bush hogged around the high ground until the tractor started cutting out. So then I took off around the river road til my transmission started slipping. I'm going to Church in the morning.

I replaced the heating element in Mama's water heater yesterday but it still didn't work, come to find out it was because she had this huge leak up under the house. There was also another bad leak right at the well. It's all fixed now !!

Vivian says it's starting to rain again here at 4 pm.

If you hear about a roof falling in on some Church tommorrow, you'll know why.

The Old Sabine is Slowly falling

Well, I still couldn't get anywhere but it's falling and I expect to be able to at least circle the main road by Sunday, if we don't get more rain, WHICH they are calling for.
My no account dogs went somewhere today without me and came home looking sorrowful wanting me to feed their sorry butts. I told them what I thought about all that and they went hungry til this evening when they followed me to the high water.
I was just telling Vivian about "cycles" how I had read somewhere that on days that stuff just doesn't go right , that it's a possible cycle and that some folks keep up with the dates and expect bad things to happen every year on that date. I bet it does too.. Only because thay expect it to.
My day didn't go just the way I wanted it to, but hey, it's better than not having a day at all.
Everybody has warned me, you hear about it all the time and now,it's happened to me. Some crooked internet outfit has debitted my account for 149.95. $ I have no idea how I got into this mess, but I've found out some things I can do come Monday morning !! BY GOD !!
It wasn't all bad, it appears I may have a part time job fueling up generators at iol well locations.
I can't think tonight, I NEED my river bottom !!! Where's my anti depressants? See Ya'll tommorrow !! Big Bad

My Book, My inventions, My Ideas

Most of ya'll heard about my book, "WhiteLine Lessons". Heck it was you guys that bought them. After they interviewed me at the Panola Watchman, sales went up 0%.
Not one silly (^((%((_(_( from Panola County rushed out and bought my book. That's right, I have ways of seeing who buys them and who doesn't.
Some of you may of heard about one of my inventions. Last year I spoke to a Patent Lawyer about my remote control toy truck with a wireless camera mounted on it. He said I couldn't patent it because there were already RC trucks and wireless cameras. Then , one of the big sellers last Christmas was a spy car.
I also invented and built the first pneumatic chalking gun and never did anything about that and now Sears has it.
Whats the deal with that? That's how "They" keep us down!
4% of the population makes 96% of the money....The rest of us are just drones, pawns, and sheep.
I ain't going down like that ! I'm gonna keep trying, keep chipping away at it...
Copy Paste and save this because I, Robert Max Stillwell will have $100,000 dollars by this time next year !!! I see me having this moola in the bank, and a peace coming over me.
Not only because of my new financial security but, the calm that will come over me knowing that the power of attraction, is working for me, it can work for you.

The River is dropping !! Very Very Slowly

No, I didn't make it to the camp today, this photo is from my files. But, the water is going down slowly.
I got stuck down near the Old Prairie yesterday evening, Vivian jinxed me by saying "don't get stuck".
I spotted a leak in a gas pipeline, because it was under water, and tried to get closer. I called cousin Max and he came down and tried to pull me out , but no luck. I went back down there with our Stretch Jeep and a strap and snatched it out all by myself, then came and got Vivian to ride down there and drive one of them out.
I saw three deer in the prairie while doing it.
The Almanac calls for more showers, heck the rest of this month is going to be wet and cold. It's so cold that Lawyers have their hands in their own pockets.
That's funnier than a one legged cat trying to bury a turd on a frozen pond.
I found a place on the Internet that's selling cypress knees for 6-8 bucks.
I can make a fortune ! Hold on while I do some math...................
Looks like if I sneak down there and saw off 166,666 cypress knees, I'll have a million bucks !
Jerry Clower sold cuckle burrs to city slickers as porcupine eggs. I wonder if someone could get arrested for stealing cuckle burrs?
Hey, Kewl, if I make 2800 bucks a day for year it'll be a million !!
That's only 456 cypress knees a day ! Dang, I don't think there is that many. Now there's more than enough cuckle burrs !
The Lord has told me, that if my readers will send me a million bucks
I will stop all this cypress knee talk and get back tom the river report...
Ya'll don't get discouraged in me, it's not easy writing about something I can't get to.. My poor dogs follow me down the road, they cross several sloughs until we get to the big one, then turn right around and come home, cold and wet.
Here's one from the archives...My Dad Milton and my Uncle Bob Kyle took me down to Stillwell's Camp when I was about 11 or 12. They decided that I needed to shoot the sawed off 12 gauge shotgun. I think I pulled both triggers or something and it kicked up and cut my nose. Then these two responsible adults went on and got the truck stuck, with me bleeding. They picked up a limb and had me sit on it so they could carry me out. Bleeding, crying and embarrassed. When my Momma, saved me from those two, she took me to the doctor and I got a butterfly bandage.
Thats the next thing to a stitch, no really...Well, laugh if you must, but it still hurts when I poke at it long enough.
Dad was real good at getting stuck, and he had me and a come-a-long to get him out. One time, we were in his old International Scout and Uncle Tiffen and cousin Max was with us. Dad drove through a creek and made it !! Then once on the other side he said, " I can't believe we made it" so he backed back through it and this time drowned out the engine. I had to climb out and spray WD-40 in the distributer cap.
Then there was that time we were using the tractor , pulling a trailer, trying to find some rich pine to start fires with. My Buddy Gil and his Dad Richard was with us. Dad got us stuck and sent Gil and I out walking to the house. I remember it being just about like it is right now, River high and rainy cold. I told Gil that the shortest way was a straight line.
He crossed a couple small sloughs with me but when we got to a big one, Gil turned back. I waded up to my neck, got water in my 22 scope. When I got to the driveway and saw my Momma in the kitchen window, I dropped, very dramatically to the ground. Man, did my Dad catch it when he got home !! hehe I think he was proud that I didn't turn back, but mad that I got Mama mad.
Once Dad and I walked all over the bottom hunting ducks. We got down to Stillwell's Camp and flopped down beneath one of those huge pine trees. I spotted a flock of geese flying overhead about ten miles up in the sky. Daddy said, give 'em hell, boy ! and we emptied our shotguns up into the air.
Lastly, there was the time Ronald Dwain Foster and I were deer hunting near Aligator slough and came upon these Mallard ducks. I went for a head shot with my 30-06 and hit it too!! Too bad it was somebodies decoy........See Ya'll tommorrow

PeckerWoodStock

Last year I was "inspired" by a higher being to throw the first annual
peace, love, and music gathering known as PeckerWoodStock 2006 .
Everybody came to me afterwards and congratulated me for throwing such a successful get together.
The purpose , my intended purpose, was to get a host of people in the like mind for one day, the mind of peace. I was inspired to create an "energy" of peace.
You would not believe the pitfalls and barriers I had to maneuver around to make it happen. I'm not complaining just informing you all that the spirit of the gathering, has depth and meaning, not just a bar be que.
Now let me tell you all this, I don't need people suggesting who I should or should not invite. Everybody in the world is invited, no matter color, creed, political, religious,or sexual preference. It's not a Judgement Gathering, it's about Peace !!
I guess I should explain "Peace". I'm not trying to tell our President what to do, I stand behind my President. I'm not saying the war is wrong, I stand behind our Troops. I want Peace on Earth for us all and believe that the only way to have it is to slowly teach, if only by example, that Peace and peaceful thoughts, will eventually creep into our minds and lives and that will bring it to past. I repeat myself in saying that the average 12 year old has witnessed 10,000 murders. This is not how you bring Peace into the world.
To summarize, come, don't come, but if you do come, try to come with the attitude of forgiveness and peace.
It's depressing that I have to explain why I want to get friends and neighbors, yes and even strangers together in the spirit of good, peaceful, loving, fun. Wheres the trust? Wheres the Love?

Stillwell's Camp

Stillwell's Camp established in the 1800's.

Many a good meal has been consumed at this ol' fish camp.

The original Peckerwood Hunting Club had a weekly fish fry here every Thursday. Enoch Knight, Felton Morris, Ralph Funk, and others from the nearby community shared in the fish supply for these get togethers.

The gates were left open just after Deer season to give our friends in the community access to the Sabine.

Fred Sue Stillwell, his Uncle Bob Stillwell, and all the Stillwell boys; Edd,Milton and Tiffen, roamed this bottom just behind the Caddo Indians.

A tree fell on the camp once, and it was moved closer to the river bank. The camp was set on fire once, and the Stillwell's and their friends and neighbors came and re-built and even added on. Folks like Mike Bagley,Todd Davis,Bill Dan Davis,Mark Coleman,Bubba Hudson, Max and Tiffen Stillwell, and a bunch of friends came to the re-risen' of a Historic Camp on the mighty Sabine.

The first annual "PeckerWoodStock" peace , love, and music, gathering was a big sucess in April of 2006. The second PWS is scheduled for the first weekend in March 2007.

The farmer's almanac calls for good weather for the '07 gathering and theres even going to be a total lunar eclipse. Fishing will be good in the evenings. I just checked and the only thing legal to hunt then will be geese somewhere in Texas and of course hogs. Everybody wants the hogs thinned out.

the 4th is the second Sunday of lent. That eclipse is sat. 3rd around sunset at 6pm.

Friday evening I like to call man night, not sure why, but cussin is allowed. Saturday is family day, the big event! and Sunday is official the morning after,clean-up, left overs..

The River is a Risen'

Welcome to Stillwell's Camp !!
Put me in your favorites and check
the weather down at the camp with
Big Bob Stillwell, hopefully daily with stories and hunting reports.
Does Cold and Wet cover it?
I can't get to the Camp today by
usual means. Can't EVEN make it around the main road.I've Emailed
FEMA !! There's NO deer or hogs,
Better be after ducks or fish if you dare risk the rushing waters and deep mud. My dogs are out in it somewhere...Poor Vivian is carrying the U.S. Mail.. I'm not gonna have any excuses for not cleaning up after myself this day.EVEN the north side is flooded !! The day I have time to start a Stillwell's Camp, Sabine River Blog, is the first day I can't get down there and be a part of it.
Well, about a week ago, Raybob and I witnessed a hog so big, I thought it was a man. I saw it again one morning and Rusti didn't feel like playing. Can't say that I blame her. Trailer tree'd a squirrel, and I knocked it out of there for him, but he show'd no interest in a dead squirrel, but Rusti made a snack out of it.
Just before all this weather, Bubba was catchin' Blue Cats at Stillwell's Camp. The day before the weather, Cuz Max's son Jake (I call him Little Toe) was pullin' Sand Bass down at the Mouth of Murvaul.. But Lord knows when and where we'll get to drop a line in this mess again. I'm blueprinting an ARK, but in Bob's Ark, there will be no mosquitoes, rattlesnakes, horse or deer flies.
I'm not complaining, because as we all know, we'll be praying for rain soon enough, heck last summer, a neighbor of mine was plowing his corn, it started popping, his mule thought it was snow, and laid down and froze to death.
Vivian crossed the river bridge on the Shreveport highway yesterday and said that it was so high, she could see under it.
Well folks, thats about a rap, no news is good news, I would like to dedicate this first blog to the late Phillip Peabody, ya'll remember him, he wrote the Hokey Pokey. The trouble started when they tried to put him in his casket. They put his right foot in..........you get it.
